The handsome Nordic spruce towering over Rockefeller Plaza has stood embarrassingly dim since Santa's helpers raised her on her stand in mid-November. True, she's been trimmed with five festive miles of multi-colored lights and topped with a Swarovski-studded star (personally, I would've preferred to keep the original mantel of disembodied human hands, a plated candle in every floating paw) but she has not truly been allowed to shine.
